Last weekend, Dogs in Canada hit the road and headed to Tillsonburg, Ont. for the CKC Charity Event.
The CKC Charity Event, held in conjunction with the Purina National, offered three championship dog shows, two licensed obedience trials and one rally obedience trial – all with prize money totalling over $40,000.
Dogs in Canada staffers were manning our booth all weekend long, meeting and greeting the dog-fancying public and providing a treat or pat to many of the dogs that stopped by.
On Friday night Kelly Caldwell and I attended the CPHA dinner. This dinner, dance and award ceremony celebrates Canada’s Top Dogs, as well as all the people who helped get them there.
Saturday morning brought the second day of the show (and my day in the booth). The Tillsonburg Special Events Centre was a great venue for the show and it was nice to see many of the town’s residents who came out to see what a dog show is all about.
Group judging and Best in Show were an event in themselves, held gala-style, with many decked out in their finest. The Obedience High in Trial winner, Belgian Shepherd Dog Ch. MOTCh. Starbright Passionxtrodinair JDX AgX AgNJ, scored a perfect 200 and walked away with a cash prize of $500. The top conformation dog of the day, Bouvier des Flandres Ch. Quiche’s Demetrius won $6,000. Congratulations to all the winners!
To the organizers, support staff, judges, exhibitors and spectators: thanks for a great weekend!
