Out & About

Pawlooza

by Alison on August 24, 2010

This past Saturday, I took a trip over to London, Ontario, to visit Pawlooza. Though the rain dampened our clothes (and fur!) it didn’t seem to dampen the spirits of all the people and dogs in attendance. There was lots to see, do and buy, but for me, it was all about all the dogs to meet. Here are photos of some of my favourite furry faces from the weekend.

A Long-haired Weimaraner! I was a total dog dork about spotting one in real life. Here she is on the move

Meet 'Babooshka,' this sweet girl is up for adoption. I may have shared a hot dog with her.

Pawlooza!

by Alison on August 20, 2010

Are you in need of some dog-related plans? If you live in southern Ontario, plan on a daytrip to Pawlooza. Tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 15,000 people and 4,000 dogs will make the trip to this charity-driven festival, myself included.

I’ll be sure to take some snap shots of the fun, so if you see me, say hi! You just may earn you and your dog a mention on the blog!

Speaking of dog events, be sure to check out our events page, I’ve just added a whole slew of cross-country events.

What is your favourite breed?

by Alison on August 13, 2010

The Saluki, Alison's favourite breed.

The Saluki, Alison's favourite breed.

I think I have struck gold with my twitter question; if you want to get people talking, bring up dog breeds. This week I asked what is your favourite breed and why?

Here are the best tweets:

@m0ff – Cairn Terrier - biased bc I have one. She’s the best lil buddy 1 could ask for, always by my side, loves unrelentingly.

@cokeaddict – Chow Chows! Cuz they look like little lions crossed with bears, and they’re stubborn as heck — which makes them cute. =D

@The_Hydrant – my fav is the doberman: loyal, smart as a whip + snuggley! (And an amazing running partner!)

@amanda_hgNkis –  Doberman-Rottie cross… my dog!  He’s a rescue and he’s gorgeous!

@EWorksOS – Yorkshire Terrier because there’s just SO much personality, intelligence in these little dogs!

@MC_Bonneau – Poodles! Obviously. Intelligent, elegant, non-shedding, athletic. Perfect!

@LoseThatGirl – Schipperke. They’re unique, curious & mine makes me laugh constantly. Never mind “little captain” they’re little clowns!

@CrespinMinPin – Why the Miniature Pinscher of course!!  LOL has to be after all the “fake pups” Cher has had!  LOL (this is Cher’s second appearance in the Dogs Blog, read about her weird habit here)

@AllisonKaravos – French Bulldogs - funny, charming, affectionate, sweet, loveable, silly, cuddly, laidback, fun-loving, adorable, irresistible!

@WeimeranerLover – Weimaraners are my favorite. They are loyal, affectionate, very protective and they are somewhat rare.

Camping

by Alison on August 13, 2010

picture-12I haven’t been camping since I was in high school, and I don’t remember being particularly fond of it back then. But lately, I am kind of getting into the idea of heading out into the woods with a couple of friends and my dogs.

If you are like me – or, better yet, more motivated that me and actually have solid plans to go camping – you should check out this article we have on safe, dog-friendly camping.

Do you have a great camping story? Share it with us in the comments section.
